The programme in the evening commenced at 1640 hrs. with a breif invocatory Veda chanting by the tiny tots from Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School – Primary Wing.

The first speaker for the session was Prof Anantaraman, Media Coordinator for Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.

Speaking on the legend of Navarathri and Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha, the archetype assembly of the learned in Prasanthi Nilayam, the Professor touched upon the supreme significance of the Sai Mission underlining the spotless unique service activities being conducted with a selfless vision in Prasanthi Nilayam.

Three more speeches followed, by three students. Manikrishna Anand, doing MBA programme at the Prasnathi Nilayam campus who spoke first dwelled on the unique service activities initiated by Bhagawan, especially the Karma Yoga, Gramaseva activities that helps students to expand instilling compassion in their hearts.

Ms Kritika Lakshmi of Anantapur Campus spoke next, briefly explaining the seven ways to success based on Bhagawan’s teachings.

Sri Rajeev Rajan, faculty at Sri Sathya Sai Institute Of Higher Learning, Brindavan Campus was the last speaker who presented a thought-provoking thesis on the week-long spiritual exercise called Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajnam.

Bhagawan’s Divine Discourse followed next before a music programme by the students of Muddenahalli campus.

Bhajans continued and ended with Bhagawan singing “Bhaja Govindam Bhaja Govindam…” Mangala Arathi was offered at 1830 hrs.

The evening session, Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha, the archetype assembly of the learned, featured three speeches and a scintillating musical offering by the students of Brindavan Campus of SSSIHL.

The session commenced with invocatory Veda chanting by the students of Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School. The first speaker for the session was Sri R Ganesan, an BBM student at the Muddenahalli Campus of SSSIHL. Speaking about mind and its vagaries, the wandering mind, Ganesan narrated his own experience with reference to his admission in the Institute that gave a boost to his confidence in his own self and faith in Bhagawan. Being in Bhagawan’s Institute allows the student to grow spiritually helping to evolve training him to contemplate within, said the grateful student who spoke with great elan and confidence.

The next speaker Sri Sai Sathyanarayanan, a final year undergraduate student, began with a story on Selfless Love emphasising that God is a 4-letter word, L-O-V-E. Speaking about Grama Seva in brief, narrating a beautiful experience of a student’s warm, loving spontaneous response to a ‘self-styled’ outcast who did not want the student to go near him, the young speaker highlighted how the Karma Yoga is helping students to evolve, blossoming them into worthy instruments in Sai mission. Narrating a beautiful incident from Mar 2011 illustrating the efficacy of selfless prayer, the young speaker concluded with a wonderful quote, “turn yourself to God and stay tuned to God.”

The third speaker Miss Maitali Verma, a doctoral research scholar from the Anantapur Campus of SSSIHL spoke of the 10 commandments she learned from her 10 years at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet. Presenting a research-oriented thesis on Bhagawan’s teachings, Bhagawan’s messages or Sai’s sayings, the speaker emphasised that one will be able to practise His teachings, the ten commandments if he/she three S’s with him/her…that is SRI SATHYA SAI.

Bhagawan’s Divine discourse followed next wherein Bhagawan emphasised on the importance of leading a life of character.

The final programme was a musical offering by the students of Brindavan Campus. Singing their hearts out to Beloved Swami, showing great commitment and dedication, blossoming talents from the Campus regaled the audience with their professional approach, receiving rounds of applause.

Bhajans continued and ended with Bhagawan singing Om Shivaya…Om Shivaya… Mangala Arathi was offered at 1900 hrs. marking the end of the session.

Ashtavadhanam in the Divine Presence…

 

This evening’s programme commenced at 1640 hrs. with an  invocatory Vedic chanting by the students of Anantapur campus of SSSIHL.

Sri Sai Giridhar Sairam took over the proceedings next, presenting the programme for the evening.  Making a mention of the uniqueness of the ongoing Dasara celebrations Sri Giridhar spoke of Maya, depicting Bhagawan as Mayapathi. Further, he read out the extensive profile of Sahasravadhani Kadimella Vara Prasada Rao, the main figure for evening’s Ashtavadhana programme.

Sahasravadhani Kadimella Sri Rama Chandra Vara Prasada Rao hails from East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, a double postgraduate in Telugu and Sanskrit with a Ph.D. working as a Telugu teacher at Taylor High School, Narasapur, East Godavari. An accomplished poet, Sri Rama Chandra Vara Prasada Rao had conducted over 1500 Ashtavadhanam, 20 Satavadhanams and a Dual Sahasravadhana along with many other feats.

Dr Jandhyala Suman Babu took over further proceedings introducing the reputed scholars participating in the Ashtavadhanam programme.

The scholars for the evening were: Dr Jandhyala Suman Babu, Dr Vinjamunri Seshaphani Sarma,  Dr Smt Dhulipala Annapurna, Sri Ayyagari Kodandarao, Sri Kandukuri Ramakrishna, Smt Cherukuni Sarada Sundari, Sri Cherukuri Venkata Suryanarayana Sarma etc.

In Ashtavadhanam, the scholar chosen in the exercise has to answer the question posed by the rest of the participant scholars. It is essentially a poetic exercise during which the participant scholars ask the Avadhani to compose poetic exercise on the spot, observing the rules of Telugu prosody. The scholars also ask questions on different topics and the Avadhani has to answer all the questions.

Today, the Avadhani rose to the occasion by composing brilliant verses on the spot while answering the questions posed by the particular scholars. The questions were mostly from the sacred scriptures as well as about the glory of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

The eminent Avadhani who successfully answered all the questions magnificently declared at the end: “it is by Sai’s grace that I could perform so well today.”

Bhagawan’s Divine discourse followed next in which Bhagawan recounted His school-day story with Ramesh and Paresh.

Even as bhajans commenced all the distinguished scholars were felicitated by senior Trust officials.

Bhajans continued and ended with Bhagawan singing “Rama Rama Rama Sita…”   Mangala Arathi was offered at 1910 hrs. marking the end of evening’s proceedings.

Today is Durgashtami, the 8^th day of Dasara celebrations, dedicated Goddess Shakti or Durga, Who is symbolic of eternal power and the victory of ‘good’ over the ‘evil’. This morning, marking the Durgashtami occasion, Sai Vahan’s along with the Golden Chariot were worshipped in the Sai Kulwant Hall attended by students and senior devotees.

In the afternoon, in Poornachandra Autitorium, a three-day Harikatha on “Sri Sathya Sai Avatara Vaibhavam – Sai Bhagavatham” is being held conducted by Chudamani Raghavendra Rao Bhagawathar. The Harikatha would continue tomorrow and the day after.

From the Grama Seva front, the Sri Sathya Sai Grama Seva  reached its 7th day today covering households and population residing in villages of Puttaparthi mandal.

In the Poornachandra Auditorium, the Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna entered its fifth day today.

This evening, on the 6^th day of Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha, there were three speeches followed by Bhagawan’s Divine discourse at Sai Kulwant Hall in Prasanthi Nilayam.

The session commenced at 1640 hrs. with invocatory Vedic chanting by the students of Sri Sathya Sai Institute Of Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam campus.

The speakers were: Ms Sneha Jain from the Anantapur Campus, Sri Bishnu Prasad Joshi and Sri Sandeep Patnaik from the Prasanthi Nilayam campus.

Ms Sneha Jain who spoke first on the theme “The Act Of Life” began with a Japanese inspirational story highlighting the greater importance of positive attitude that takes one to victory. Deliberating on the theme of self-confidence, Sneha spoke of Faith in Swami and Confidence in Swami divulging into the difference between asserting that there is no difference between confidence in Swami and Self-confidence.

Speaking next, on the theme LOVE, Sri Bishnu Prasad Joshi raised a serious concern, blaming the modern-day addiction of FaceBook. “If alone one needs a FaceBook reminder to remember one’s own mother’s birthday, i fear when we opt to live away from our parents we might end up forgetting them” said Joshi raising greater concern about the modern-day addiction. Mother is personfied selfless love and her prayers are always heard, said Joshi mentioning of the various worshipful mothers Swami would often mention posing a question, if our own mother can give such selfless sweet love what it would be, The Love of Beloved Bhagawan, Whose Love is often termed as The Love Of Thousand Mothers.

As if continuing from where the second speaker stopped, Sri Sandeep Patnaik, a Research Scholar from Prasanthi Nilayam campus, began speaking about the unique theme of Journey Of Love that he has been travelling from his childhood in His physical presence. Interspersing his speech with a couple of beautiful primary school incidents involving physical Bhagawan, Sandeep posed a question to the audience..is there anything inignificant for the Universal God, however big or small it appears to our finite eyes…

Bhagawan’s Divine discourse that followed next was on the theme of mind and its vagaries… exhorting one to tread the sacred path of “Prajnana”, the path of greater awareness, to reach The Goal. Secular education confers worldly knowledge while Brahma Vidya, Spiritual eduction confers one with Eternal Bliss,  concluded Bhagawan.

Bhajans contined and ended with Bhagawan singing “Prema Muditha Manase Kaho Rama Rama Ram…” Mangala Arathi was offered at 1805 hrs.

Sri V Srinivasan, All India President of SSSSO, spoke briefly next addressing the august assembly about the super cyclone that hit the Odisha coast last night. The cyclone that was originally rated as “Super Cyclone”, mysteriously halted when it was 90 mts away hitting the Gopalpur coast in Odisha, announced Sri Srinivasan quoting IMD, India Mateorological Department. The mysterious halting subsequently weakened the Super Cylclone to hit Gopalpur at a speed of 200 kms…and as per the latest infomation available the Cyclone has further weakened to a mere 20 km per hour ordinary cyclone.  Rapid Action Force of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations – Andhra Pradesh are moving into Odisha to help the sevadal force over there to help rescue and rehabilitation, added Sri V Srinivasan.

Sri Srinivasan thanked the global fraternity of Sai devotees who responded with selfless prayers to Bhagawan to avert the disaster, as broadcast through Radio Sai.

Earlier in the afternoon, in Poornachandra Autitorium, the three-day Harikatha on “Sri Sathya Sai Avatara Vaibhavam – Sai Bhagavatham”  by Chudamani Raghavendra Rao Bhagawathar continued on its second day today. The Bhagavatam will conclude tomorrow afternoon.

The Karma Yoga, Sri Sathya Sai Grama Seva entered the penultimate day with service in the villages of Kothacheruvu Mandal.The Grama Seva will conclude tomorrow with service to the residents of Prasanthi Nilayam.

Maha Purnahuthi offering of the ongoing Dasara Jnana Saptaha Yajna will also take place tomorrow morning, in the Poornachandra Auditorium.
