The Gopuram gate entrance got an enhancement par excellence when a statue of Lord Ganesha was Ganesha Idol Installed…installed this morning welcoming the devotees to Prasanthi Nilayam.  The rituals started at 1900 hrs. last evening, the 28th of June 2012. After the Kalasa Stapana, a variety of Homams including the Sthala Shudhi Homam, Navagraha Homam, Ganapathi Homam etc., were performed. The idol and the kalasa which will adorn the top of the shrine were then immersed in sacred water before being installed in their sanctified positions. At 0530 hrs., to the sounds of Panchavadyam and Vedic invocations, the veil was removed and devotees assembled were advised  to have Darshan of the Lord through a mirror placed...read more

 
 
An event filled day beckons - 53rd anniversary of the mediation tree

29th June 2012, the 53rd anniversary of the mediation tree will also witness another epochal event. The Lord Ganesha who witnessed scores of interactions between Bhagawan and His devotees from the  coveted spot directly behind His throne will now welcome devotees who enter through the Gopuram gate, with a friendly familiar glance to the long timers and a warm smile welcoming the new pilgrims.

Meditation-Tree-puttaparthi-sari-sathya-sai-babaThe idol will be installed at 0530 hrs in the morning. Later at 0945hrs after the Mangala Arati in Sai Kulwant Hall, there will be a special function at the Vata Vruksham or Meditation tree. Read more about it here.

The tree stands on the road leading to the Administrative block of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning and the Sanathana Samskruti Museum.

Additionally a new side gate has been introduced next to the existing Ganesh gate opposite Chitravati road which will be operational from 0815hrs for the convenience of devotees who exit Ashram by foot.

Also, the mandir timings will revert to the traditional hours of 1630hrs to 1800hrs from the summer timings of 1700hrs to 1830hrs from tomorrow.

The Gopuram Gate has now been thrown open for devotees during the Darshan time in Sai Kulwant Hall in the mornings and evenings. The Gopuram was built by devoted hands in the South Indian style of temple architecture.

GOPURAM GATE IN PUTTAPARTHI OPENED FOR PUBLIC IN PRASANTHI NILAYAM

The imposing and inspiring structure was inaugurated by Bhagawan on 18th November 1975, during the 50th Birthday celebrations. In 2010, the Kalasams, which form the finials of the Gopuram, were blessed by Bhagawan once again after they were polished in time for the 85th Birthday Celebrations.....continue reading

 

Summer Course from tomorrow - Valedictory Of Summer Course 2012

This year’s summer course on Indian Culture and Spirituality is set to begin tomorrow morning at 0830hrs at Poornachandra Auditorium with Vedic Invocation. The 3 day conference will be attended by students of the Anantapur, Brindavan, Muddenhalli and Prasanthi Nilayam campuses of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (Deemed Universtiy).

The conference will include talks by learned speakers, video presentations, study circles, quiz sessions, sharing of experiences and cultural programmes. While the students of the Brindavan campus will present a music programme on Friday, the Anantapur campus will have the honour on Saturday.

Sunday, June 10th, 201: The three day Summer Course in Indian Culture and Spirituality concluded with the pre-lunch final session held this morning. The programme for this morning commenced at 0830 hrs. with Vedic chanting. The first talk for the morning was delivered by Sri Amey Deshpande, Doctoral Research Scholar, Dept. of Management Studies on the subject Sai Avatar – The Fountain Head of Indian Culture and Spirituality followed by a talk by Dr. T. Ravi Kumar, Associate Prof., Department of Chemistry on the subject Indian Culture and Spirituality – Insights from the life of Bhagawan Baba. A short video presentation on Bhagawan followed before the resumption of the talk with Dr. Ms. PL Rani, Asst. Prof., Dept. of English Language & Literature speaking on the theme Eightfold Path of Patanjali Yoga Sutra and the Sri Sathya Sai System of Integral Education followed by talks delivered by two Alumni on An Ideal Sai Student and his/her role in Society. A presentation on select Summer Course Divine Discourses followed before the valedictory talk delivered by Dr. (Ms.) TR Rajeshwari, Associate Professor with Dept. of Commerce.

Sathya Sai Institutions embark on a New Academic Year…

Fresh and refreshed, students of Sri Sathya Sai Institutions from all the three existing campuses, Prasanthi Nilayam, Brindavan and Anantapur along with the newly approved fourth campus at Muddenahalli are geared up to begin the new academic year tomorrow, 1st June 2012. Existing students as well as freshers have already arrived at Prasanthi Nilayam and other campuses and would be joining respective hostels by this evening. Students of the Higher Secondary wing are also enrolling to hostels today, except for the 1st Standard, to which the selection procedure is scheduled during the ensuing week.

Today, being the last day of the academic year, Prasanthi had good turnout of devotees, filing past the Sanctum Sanctorum. Today, also being the final day of Odisha Sevadal duty, Sevadals from the State assembled at the Poornachandra Auditorium, where senior officials from the Ashram addressed the assembly. At the end of the meeting Prasadam was distributed to the entire group of Sevadals. New batch of Sevadals from the State of Uttar Pradesh took over the Prasanthi Duty for the next fortnight.

Being Thursday, this evening bhajans ended with Bhagawan’s melodious singing…”Bhava Bhaya Harana Vandita Charana…”.

Aradhana Mahotsavam begins…

 
Three-day Sri Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam, commemorating the ascent of the Avatar from the physical plane, commenced this morning  amid heartfelt remembrance of the enchanting Lord Who walked the Prasanthi soil for over eight decades.

Proceedings for the morning began with an introductory talk by University Controller Of Examinations Sri S. Rangarajan who dwelled on the difficult phase of accepting the reality of His changing over from the physical to the omnipresent all-pervading reality. C

alling the year gone by a tough one, challenging His devotees to refocus on His subtler dimensions of eternal existence, Sri Rangarajan invited the speakers for the colloquium on the theme “Experiencing the Divine – From the Form to the Formless”. The speakers were Dr. Samuel Sandweiss, a familiar name among Sai fraternity, a long-time time devotee, eminent practising psychiatrist from San Diego, California, USA and Swami Suddhananda Giri of Yogoda Satsanga Society, founded by revered Sri Sri Paramahamsa Yogananda.

TN Pilgrimage to Prasanthi -Telugu Drama by Ooty - Thyagaraja Aradhana by TN Devotees

 

Over thousand devotees from Tamil Nadu are arriving in Prasanthi Nilayam in two contingents in the next two days to pay obeisance to Bhagawan.

The second contingent of 700 devotees, balvikas children, parents and gurus from the districts of Chennai Metro ( South ), Coimbatore, Vellore and Tiruppur districts of Tamil Nadu arrived at Prasanthi Nilayam this morning.

 
 

The Pancharatna Krithis (five of the most outstanding compositions) of Saint Thyagaraja were performed by eminent Vidwans and Vidhushis led by Sri. Trichur Ramachandran (Padma Bhushan Awardee).

They started the concert by paying obeisance to Lord Ganesha with the kirti, ‘Sri Ganapatini’ in Saurashtram ragam and Adi Talam. The Annual Sports & Cultural Meet 2012 of Sri Sathya Sai Educational Institutions began with a march past of the students of Sri Sathya Sai Educational Institutions this morning. Earlier at 0800 hrs., Bhagawan was symbolically ushered in the stadium.
