BANGALORE: Sri Satya
Sai Seva Samithi has conducted 500 thread ceremonies (upanayanams)
at a function attended by thousands of people from across the State at
Whitefield here on Sunday.
The Samithi has borne the function cost and provided free board and
lodging to the 500 children and their parents besides clothes.
It may be recalled that the Samithi had organised thread marriages to 200
children on Satya Sai Baba’s 75th birthday five years ago.
Many devotees were waiting to conduct thread ceremonies of their children in
the divine presence of Sri Satya Sai Baba. We are happy to
conduct this function with the blessings of Sai Baba,’’ said a key
functionary of the Samithi, adding that community service is the need of the
hour.
Many parents felt that their long-cherished wish of performing the thread
marriage of their wards in the presence of Sai Baba was fulfilled. ‘‘I
was waiting for this auspicious occasion and I am happy,’’ said a parent from
Hubli.
