OM SRI SAIRAM…!

Pranaams at the Divine Lotus Feet of our Revered Swami Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and Loving Sairam to all of you who have assembled at this beautiful Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Niketan Complex.

First of all, our sincere thanks to Shri Harshadbhai for extending everyone’s  loving invitation to us to be here amongst you and participate in the auspicious Bhoomi Poojan today.

Owing to unavoidable circumstances, we could not make it happen for which we tender our sincere apology.

We are extremely fortunate to have been blessed by Revered Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai to have chosen this day today for the sacred Bhoomi Poojan of the Sri Sathya Sai Education in Human Values Institute in this holy land of Dandkaranya at Ganesh Vad, Sisodra on the outskirts of the district town of Navsari in South Gujarat.

The Bhoomi Poojan and the subsequent construction of the institute marks not only an establishment of an institute of education, but an institute of Educare.

Bhagavan has explained that education is of two types viz. External and Internal.

External education is imparted in schools, colleges, universities and other training institutions in the form of degrees, diplomas in Arts, Science, Commerce and other higher disciplines. The main purpose of external education is to facilitate earning of livelihood through job, profession and business. It is also called secular education, which is useful to satisfy and fulfill the worldly or temporal desires, but such desires are never fully satisfied and therefore it leads to increasing desires and greed. To accomplish that purpose, man adopts unfair practices that lead to loss of human values, non-recognition of Divinity in Humanity. External education is just like an effort to desire happiness and pleasure from the outer shell of the fruit. It is oriented to develop only the head of the man. It can make him clever but not wise or cultured.

Internal education is oriented towards the development of human qualities (values) such as Compassion, Forbearance, Tolerance, Truth, and Sacrifice etc.  It leads to the development of Head, Heart and Hands.

When a thought comes to a man, it enters the head first. External education will immediately transfer it to hands for action. Black marketing, exploitation of the poor through cornering, murders, terrorist activities are thoughts transferred from heads directly to the hands.

But if internal education is developed, heart will come into the picture, Head will decide whether the thought should be directly passed on to hands for action. It will decide whether the thought is good for himself, his kith and kin, society, country, etc. This discrimination is because of heart i.e. Internal Education. The heart will never try any thought to destroy others because there are no others—all are Divine Elements. Hearts of all are same because God resides there. But heads of all are never same, because ego resides there. Therefore, education of Head, Heart and Hands, which Bhagavan Baba calls Educare, is more important than education of head alone.

“Real education is that, which fosters Virtues, Morality, Truth, Compassion, Discipline, Devotion and Duty”.

In expanding the mission of Sai to ensure that the unique message of Educare (True Education) be made available to every human being in every nook and corner of the world, the sustained efforts of Sri Harshadbhai Patel, Chairman and other trustees Sri Sai Seva Charitable Trust  are held in high regard. The ways of the Lord are often wrapped in mystery. May Sai bestow blessings for the highest good.

The, education must prepare the students not just for a living, but also for Life. Education has two characteristics:

(i)                Exposition to facts relating to a subject, e.g., History, Geography, Science. This essentially means to “inform”.

(ii)              The other is the unfoldment of the individual’s personality. This is to “transform”. As the term suggests, trans-form means to go beyond the form and transcend to the formless—to see God in all hearts, to move from duality to non-duality, from revering the God with a name and form to revering the Atma that resides in all living beings, which is a very essence of the Divine. Any form of education is incomplete without the transformation.

When an educational institution invests in the holistic development of the students, it invests in a future of the nation by building people who are professionally competent as well as grounded in humility. True education leads to the broadening of the minds and hearts. When children grow in an environment of exemplary parents, teachers, and educationists, students themselves turn out to be ideal citizens.

We are confident that wholehearted, loving and caring involvement of Shri Harshadbhai and all of you will facilitate completion of the construction of the institute building in a record time.

May the forthcoming institute add more and more feathers to its cap through various achievements at every level, every day and glorify the time of the Avatarhood of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba at each and every moment.

Our Best Wishes to every one associated in this noble endeavour.

Jai Sairam…!
