Decades-old tradition in Parthi, Dasara festivity commences in Prasanthi Nilayam tomorrow, 25 Sept 2014, with the traditional Kalasha-Sthapana in the morning.

Since early 40s, Dasara has been a dotted festival in the Prasanthi Festive schedule. Over the years Prasanthi has witnessed the evolution of the festivity, into one of Prasanthi’s major ones, with Week-long Dasara Jnana Saptaha Yajna, Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha and Sri Sathya Sai Grama Seva, triad of Bhakti, Jnana and Karma Yoga, forming part of it.

Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna is a week-long sacrificial ritual for Universal Peace, conducted at the Poornachandra Auditorium, concludes with Poornahahuthi on the final day, Vijaya Dasami.

Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha is an ensemble of scholars and learned men that include scholars from within the campus, various in-house institutions.

Sri Sathya Sai Grama Seva is the Seva Yajna or Karma Yajna initiated by Bhagawan in the year 2000. Ever since this has been an integral part of Prasanthi’s Dasara celebrations. Sri Sathya Sai Grama Seva is a great learning experience for His chosen instruments, students, expanding their hearts and minds to greater levels of sensitivity towards societal needs, achieving brotherhood of man and Fatherhood of God.

This year’s Dasara Saptaha Jnana Yajna commences on 27 September at the Poornachandra Auditorium. The Prasanthi Vidwan Mabasabha, commencing on 27 September evening, will be held in the Sai Kulwant Hall.

Over 2000 students of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) covering all the four campuses and associated institutions at Prashanthi Nilayam will participate in this year’s Grama Seva. About 150 villages in the three mandals of Anantapur district; Puttaparthi, Kothacheruvu and Bukkapatnam, will be covered in this year’s 9-day Yajna. An estimated 50,000 households will be given clothes and around 3,00,000 will be given Prasadam durng the course of the 9-day Yajna.
