Music with a difference, Whistle Music by renowned Whistle Wizard Sri Siva Prasad and a scintillating dance offering by Prasanthi Dance Group marked the first evening of the 88th Birthday celebrations of Bhagawan here in Prasanthi Nilayam today.

The programme in the evening commenced at 1700 hrs. after half-an-hour regular Veda chanting. Siva Prasad, a rare talent who mastered the art of whistle music to perfection was the artist for the evening. Regaling the audience for an hour Siva Prasad ‘sang’ some of the popular bhajans intertwining them with some of the finest Carnatic as well devotional numbers.

Whistle Music and Dance Offering…

Beginning with a Ganesha offering “Jai Ganaraya…” he continued with “Sadguru Brahma Sanathana Hey…”, “Bantureeti Kolu…” a famous Carnatic piece by St Thyagaraja, a Krishna song… “Alaypaayuthey….”, “Vanamali Radha Ramana…”, “Arunachala Shiva….”, “Endaro Mahanubhavulu…”, “Bho Shambho Shiva Shambho…” to end with “Prema Muditha Manasey Kaho…”

Whistling can be musical; it is art of careful controlling of a stream of air flowing through a small opening between the lips, air control made possible mainly with the help of lips and tongue.  Siva Prasad was earlier blessed with the rare blessing to whistle back his rare talent unto Him…the bestower of all boons…all talents…Bhagawan Himself!!!

This evening Siva Prasad was accompanied by Sri SV Ramanamurthy on Violin, Smt G Padmavathi on Veena, Sri O Guruprasad on Key Board,  Sri K Srinivasa Rao on Mridangam, Sri TP Balasubramanyam on Ghatam, Sri K Sridhar on Violin, Sri D Jayakumar on Tabala, Ms K Haripriya on Sruti and Sri Subramaniam on Rhythms.

From Whistling to Dance… what came next was a scintillating thematic dance programme offered by a collective group of students from all the boys’ campuses, including tiny tots from the Primary School. Entitled “Bhakti Bhava Pravaham” the programme was a depiction of ‘Navavidha Bhakti’ as often expounded by Bhagawan. With the dancers arrayed in colourful costumes under bright colourful lights in the twilight, dancinging aesthetically, presenting various steps in the devotional path, the evening turned out to be a rare treat of devotional experience, as the group of boys excelled with their dedicated loveful offering to Beloved Bhagawan, receiving rapturous applause.

Bhajans continued and ended with Mangala Arathi at 1920 hrs.
