SBOI Darshan News 14th March

Today morning Swami came at 7:15 but it was in the evening Swami really surprised the devotees by coming bit earlier (2:45 p.m.)  than His usual darshan time, Kulwant hall was half empty & many devotees were still outside. But the news of Swami’s entrance made the crowd of devotees rush inside the Sai Kulwant hall.  Swami took a darshan route shorter than the usual one, His car drove up to the verandah from left side. Swami got down & went inside the interview room. A Hungarian group, rather large assemblage were blessed with a personal interview with Bhagawan. The group from hungry sat inside the bhajan mandir for interview instead of the “interview room”. At 3:45 some boy students came out took 2 boxes from Swami's car & went inside. Apparently, Swami had some special chocolates as treat for His devotees in the bhajan mandir. At 4:00 p.m. Swami came out from bhajan mandir & went inside the interview room.  After few minutes the group also came out from the bhajan mandir, the radiating smiles from the group said it all.

After a short time, the waiting lines of devotees eager to come inside the Bhajan mandir were allowed to go inside; meanwhile Swami came out and sat outside (Kulwant Hall) the Veda chanting went on til 4.45 p.m. Bhajans started with salutations to Lord Ganesha. One could visibly see that Swami was enjoying the bhajans; it is indeed a wonderful experience to observe Swami with eyes closed, as if totally immersed in His blissful nature, distant yet so near. At 5:15 p.m. Bhagavan signaled for Aarti. After receiving the Aarti, Swami drove back to his residence.  The warm weather in Puttaparthi got even hotter today! Perhaps, the Holi celebrations with colored water may well bring about some cool relief.

It appears that Swami might move into His new residence on the auspicious day of Ugadi. SBOI will keep you updated on this and all the other Sai News. -Happy Holi-

Ugadi
Ugadi is the New Year's Day for the people of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. While this festival is known as Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, the same is celebrated as Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra. It falls generally in the month of March.

According to the Hindu Calendar, Ugadi is celebrated on the first day of the bright fortnight ('Shukla Paksha') of the first month ('Chaitra') in the first season of the year i.e., spring ('Vasanta'). This day is celebrated as the New Year Day in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. While it is called Ugadi or Yugadi in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, it is celebrated as Gudi Padva in Maharashtra. The word ‘Ugadi’ is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yugadi’, which means ‘beginning of a new Yuga or era’. Legend has it that this was the day on which Lord Krishna shed His body, signalling the end of the Dwapara Yuga and the commencement of the Kali Yuga. It is also believed that Brahma created the universe on this day.

On Ugadi, it is the tradition to begin the day by partaking of a special preparation known as ‘Ugadi Pacchadi’. Six ingredients go into the making of this dish, each one representative of the six tastes – sweet, sour, spicy, salty, savoury and bitter. This reminds us to accept both the joys and sorrows that life offers us with equal mindedness.
