Sai Baba in Kodaikanal  -  SBOI - Kodaikanal travel Info- Resource - Archive Photos

Sri Sathya Sai Baba arrived in Kodaikanal on Thursday for a summer stay till the first week of May. Earlier, He reached Madurai by air from Puttaparthi. Sri Sathya Sai Baba, during a brief halt in the city (Tamil Nadu - Madurai) , gave darshan to hundreds of devotees who had gathered around
Ananda Nilayam at Sathya Sai Nagar in the afternoon. From here, he travelled to Kodaikanal in a car. Photo left, Swami giving darshan in Ananda Nilayam click on pic to enlarge. Herewith yet another photo of our Lord Sai. Swami is being received in Ananda Nilayam, by Sri. Srinivasan Chettiar and his wife. Sri Chettiar kneeling down at His Lotus Feet, and His wife Smt. April 26, 2007 - Om Sairam to dearest Sai Family Amidst cheers, prayers and tears, Swami left for Kodai Kanal this morning as thousands gathered on either side of the road, to greet a warm farewell to the Dearest Son of this holy Puttaparthi… Swami had already prolonged His stay for about 15 days and all of us were expecting Swami would go to Kodai any time..  There was news running around that Swami might leave this morning (26 th April) and government owned Indian airlines flight landed in the Sathya Sai Airport around 8:30am confirming Swami’s departure from Puttaparthi. The selected Students, teachers and other dignitaries were already assembled in the Airport… There was a separate lift placed for Swami to get into the plane and in no time Swami’s flight took off, around 10:30am, as thousands waved from the ground…
Puttaparthi, was fortunate to have Swami a bit longer than He used to …. Courtesy of the marriage and some other functions…Devotees thronged in large numbers, ignoring the scorching sun…. Puttaparthi will now wear a deserted look, SANNATA as they call in hindi.. All the big overseas groups, South Africans, Americans, Russians, all will be gone.. It will be a quite time for other wise busy Puttaparthi…  All the deserving and desiring beggars will be gone (many of them have already worked overtime as Swami prolonged His visit..)… and for all the flower vendors, rickshaw drivers it will be a tough time.

The past 12 months… witnessed a NEW Swami, a big revolution in all our lives.. Two big events that occurred were the two Yagnas in Parthi and Chennai.. We got to witness about 20 discourses in this 12 months.. there is also a sea change in our Sai Family.. Love is blossoming, hatred is declining… jealousy is running away from us… yet we all know there is a long way to go and our Swami will definitely make sure that we reach our Goal..
With prayers to our beloved Sai Ma to help us lead a more spiritually fruitful life I end this small offering at the lotus feet…….

April 26, 2007 - On most of the last few days, Bhagawan came for darshan and went into the interview room, emerging at Bhajan time. From there, the chartered flight with Bhagawan and party to Madurai took off at 10.15.

Thursday, April 19, 2007 - This morning, Bhagawan went on a drive, Blessed the wedding of His brother's grand-daughter at the Pedda Venkappa Raju Kalyanamantapam, and arriving in the Mandir at 9.45, asked for the Arati to commence. In the evening, He once again spent half an hour interacting with the students and others in the Bhajan Hall. The session began at 4.40, with Swami going through an album or brochure presented by Mr. Kondal Rao whom He has entrusted with the works of the Sai Water Supply Projects. Then He interacted with some students, and also with some devotees from Belgium on the ladies' side. It was 5.10 when the Bhajans began.

Tuesday, April 17, 2007 - This afternoon, there was a brief shower and the overcast sky along with cool winds brought the temperatures down. At 3 o'clock, instead of coming to the Sai Kulwant Hall, Bhagawan went on a 20 minute drive up to the indoor Stadium and then returned via the main gate. Later, at 4.20, He came into the Bhajan Hall and interacted with the students and teachers for forty minutes, taking some letters, talking to a few, changing the ring of one of the Research Scholars and so on.

Monday, April 16, 2007 - This morning, Bhagawan sat onstage for around half an hour. He called up some students with letters, and taking the letters, gave them watches! The watches were similar to the ones He had distributed to the Balvikas students during the Tamil New Year and Vishu programmes.

April 13, 2007 - This evening, the three day celebrations of Tamil New Year and Vishu of Kerala got underway. Balvikas children from Kerala were seated in the middle of Sai Kulwant Hall, and a musical presentation was being arranged. Bhagawan came to the Sai Kulwant Hall just after 3 o'clock and went into the interview room. He emerged after an hour and came onstage in His chair. Instead of remaining there, He came down the central ramp towards the Balvikas children, and then went on a full round of the Sai Kulwant Hall in His chair, granting a close darshan to the children and the devotees from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, moving around both on the gents' and ladies' sides while laddoo prasadam was distributed to all. Once He returned to the stage, the Instrumental Fusion music programme got underway at 4.25 pm. After fifteen minutes, Kavalam Sreekumar, the vocalist, sang a few songs. At five o'clock, the Balvikas children began their Bhajans.

Bhagawan was very pleased with the Bhajan singing of the children, and He was particularly touched by a visually handicapped boy playing the Harmonium. He came down from the stage, got up from His chair, and started distributing clothes to the artistes who performed. The young Harmonium player got not just clothes, but also a chain from the Divine Hands. Bhagawan instructed that sarees be brought from the store room for giving the girls, and waited onstage with the Bhajans going on till the children finised their stock of Bhajans at 5.55. Then He asked the vocalist to continue, and two songs later, asked the students to start singing. After a few bhajans, a Meera song and some more songs were sung by them. Meanwhile, the sarees arrived, and Bhagawan got them distributed to all the Balvikas girls. Only after He was satisfied with the distribution did He ask for the Arati - at 6.40 pm. As the Arati went on, instead of getting into the car and leaving for His residence, He went in the chair itself to Yajur Mandiram.

April 12, 2007 - This morning, after His darshan round in the car, Swami came onstage and sat for a few minutes while the Vedam chanting went on. He called up all the small children in Sai Kulwant Hall, and after they were seated in front of Him, chocolates were distributed to them. Swami then came to the Bhajan Hall and interacted briefly there, following which He went inside the interview room and later came to the Bhajan Hall again when Bhajans began.

This evening also, Bhagawan came early to the Bhajan Hall, by four o'clock this time. Once again calling up several teachers and students and talking to them, He went back to the interview room five minutes before the Bhajans began, and a few minutes later came back for the Bhajans.

April 11, 2007 - This morning, after His darshan round in the car, Swami went around the students' block once again in His chair. Then, after a brief interlude in the interview room, He came out again, and went on a round of the upper verandah, entering the Bhajan Hall from the rear door. When He reached the front of the Hall, He started interacting with the students with a general "call for letters" - all those with letters got up and queued up in front of Swami! He took letters, spoke a few words to some, gave vibhuti and so on, for ten minutes before returning to the interview room.
In the evening also, Swami came early to the Bhajan Hall, at 4.10 pm. He called up some students and teachers and spoke to them, asking them how they were having food nowadays with the Hostel mess having closed, what they were eating in the Canteen and so on. He then asked for some "new songs" - so one of the Bhajan singers came up to Him and started singing a Tamil song, softly and unaccompanied, on Kanchi Kamakshi. This was followed by songs by Bhadrachala Ramdas and Purandaradasa, with a Malayalam song rounding off the selection in all four South Indian languages. Some more conversation followed, and
then Bhagawan indicated that they could start the Bhajan five minutes early

April 10, 2007 - This morning, Swami did not come for darshan. But in the evening, after His darshan round and going briefly to the interview room, He came into the Bhajan Hall by 4.10 and started interacting with the students there, seated on the throne. A few minutes were also spent with the Kerala State Sai Organisation president Prof. Mukundan, who was detailing the plans for their Vishu celebrations next week, with many Balvikas children and parents taking part. The last few minutes of the session were devoted to two of the Music college boys who sing Meera songs - Swami asked them to sing some songs right next to Him, without accompaniments, till the Bhajans began at five o'clock.  -

April 9, 2007 - This morning, Bhagawan came for darshan just after 7.30, and after His darshan round in the car, sat onstage for 20 minutes while the Vedam chanting went on. He called up and Blessed several students, some of them with Birthday trays and some with letters. He also called up a couple of Primary school boys with letters, and asked them to chant Vedam right next to Him.

In the evening, Swami came into the Bhajan Hall at 4.30, and spent a jovial half an hour with the students before Bhajans. Calling up several students with letters, He read out the letters aloud, commented on the contents, and sent them back with the letters, saying that He's not taking the letters since anyway they have to be just put into the waste-paper basket, but He would take the contents of the letters. He asked some of the students their names, and asked them the meaning of their names. One of them had written the phrase "more and more" in his letter - Swami punned on the word "more", asking him his meaning - it means buttermilk in Tamil! He also spoke to some ladies, carrying on a long-distance conversation from His throne. When it became five o'clock, Swami asked for the Bhajans to begin, and half an hour later accepted Arati and returned to His residence.

April 4, 2007 - The past few days have been quiet at Prasanthi Nilayam. The students finished their exams on March 31 as they do every year, and began their summer vacations. Many of them are still at Parthi, enjoying the daily darshans and bhajan.

This morning, Bhagawan came into the Bhajan Hall a few minutes before the morning Bhajans began and spoke to a few students and teachers there, following which He went on a round of the verandah and returned to the Bhajan Hall via the stage area as Bhajans began. On Monday, He sat onstage for 20 minutes after His evening darshan round, calling up and blessing several students. Last Friday, Swami had gone on a round of the Ashram in the car after coming to Sai Kulwant Hall while the morning Bhajans went on. On returning at 9.35, He sat in the Bhajan Hall for half an hour more of Bhajans before accepting Arati and returning to Yajur Mandiram.
